After military service he took his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at N.Y.U./Bellevue from 1958 to 1962. During the last three years of his residency he served as Chief Resident. After a National Institutes of Health Fellowship in Obstetrical Physiology in Montevideo, Uruguay, Dr. Filler entered private practice in Long Island, New York. He also served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics at New York University School of Medicine. Subsequently, he has served as Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Missouri/Kansas City Medical School and is currently Associate Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Irvine; California College of Medicine. Dr. Filler had his own private practice in Montclair, California for many years. He has been an independent contractor in gynecology in the South Bay area of Los Angeles for the last eight years. Dr. Filler continues to serve in his faculty position at U.C.I. The Filler family has lived in California since 1971. They moved to Temecula from the South Bay area in 1999. Dr. Filler has an office for the practice of Gynecology in this area since May of 2000. During his career, Dr. Filler has been the President of the California Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is certified and recertified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is a member of the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association and the San Bernardino County Medical Society. Some of his additional memberships include the Southwest Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, and the New York Academy of Medicine, the Bellevue Obstetrical and Gynecological Society and is a Founding Member of the Gynecologic Urology Society. Dr. Filler has served the United States Government as a member of the Advisory Committee on Fertility and Maternal Health Drugs of the Food and Drug Administration. He has served the California Medical Association as a Medical Staff Surveyor for Hospital Licensure and Accreditation and as a Continuing Medical Education Surveyor. While in private practice in Montclair he was a member of the Governing Board of Doctor's Hospital of Montclair from 1972 to 1987 and during that period served as Chairman of the Credentials Committee, Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Chairman of the Governing Board. He served in all of those positions for not less than six years. From 1972 to 1973 he was Chief of Staff at Doctor's Hospital of Montclair. Dr. Filler is the author of numerous scientific articles in his specialty and has made a number of lectures and presentations at various medical schools and medical meetings around the United States and in South America. Dr. Filler has served as a medical expert for both defense and plaintiff attorneys since the early 1980's. He has lectured to attorneys and risk management professionals at various locations throughout the western United States since that time. Dr. Filler was a feature speaker at an ATLA meeting in San Diego, California, May 1996. Tapes of that presentation are available through ATLA. He continues to be actively involved in risk management consultation and malpractice case evaluation and expert witness testimony. Dr. Filler's father, three uncles, and over thirty cousins have been or are currently physicians. This has made his ability to interact with experts around the world rather unique. The fact that he has been a doctor for forty-five years in the east, mid-west and pacific coast has contributed to this ability. On the personal side, Dr. Filler has been married for many years, and has three children and seven grandchildren.
